Climates

France consists of three different climates- marine west coast, maditerranean, and highlands. The marine west coast climate takes up 75 percent of France, mediterranean takes up 20 percent, and highlands takes up 5 percent of France. France is bordered by the Mediterranean sea to the southeastern coast which is why there is a mediterranean climate. The Alps also borders France to the east giving it a highland climate. The North Atlantic wind drift to the west of France creates currents from the prevailing westerlies giving it a marine west coast climate. The Atlantic ocean regulates the tempurature of France which is the cause of the different climates.

Ecosystems

The ecosystems of France are mid-latitude deciduous forest, mixed forest (deciduous and coniferous), chaparral, and highlands. The marine west coast climate brings the deciduous forest ecosystem to France because land is relatively flat and fertile. The highland ecosystem is a result of the Alps locates on the northeastern border of France. The Pyrenees mountains bring the mixed frost ecosystem  and the mediterranean climate of France brings the chaparral ecosystem with shrubs!
